Indoor Bouncy Castle Precautions

25 February 2009

Although outdoor premises are ideal for bouncy castles and inflatables, there are no limits as to where you can erect your bouncy castle. Indoor events are often the choice for parties during the winter period and where there is a risk of poor weather conditions. However, there are certain requirements that should be met when using your bouncy castle or inflatable indoors.

In totally enclosed structures and premises, signs should indicate exists so that people are always aware of them. An independent support system should be provided for the castle or inflatable, this includes; lighting, emergency lighting and loud-speaker systems. Structures that are designed to accommodate more than 15 people using the inflatable or bouncy castle should have more than one exit so that the inflatable can be evacuated quickly. Emergency lights should be provided as a back up if a lighting system is installed. The discharge period for the lighting following supply failure, should be sufficient to allow for the complete evacuation of the structure. These back up systems should be fully charged prior to use of the inflatable or bouncy castle. Any electrical cables should be kept securely away from any users or spectators of the bouncy castle.
